Condé Nast Traveler's "Gold List" results are based upon the 2007 Readers' Choice Survey, in which the publication asked respondents to rate hotels according to various criteria such as service, rooms, design, dining and location. From the more than 28,000 subscriber responses received, the publication calculated the average score of each category and tabulated the overall satisfaction percentage.
